If you’re like me, you were probable wondering if spring was ever going to arrive in Ohio. This winter has seemed especially long, cold, and wet, and I have really been looking forward to warmer weather. Warmer weather means sunshine and new growth, farmers working in their fields, gardens, flowers, and of course, motorcycles on the road once again!
As I get older, I find myself looking forward to certain things more and more. Our grandchildren, Lexi, Kaitlyn, Jill, Kyle, Allison, and Mackenzie are a special joy and I treasure every moment I am able to share their company. My children, Bethany, Ben and Brittany are living away from home and I look forward to their visits. And this year promises to be a special one as we anticipate the upcoming wedding of our son, Ben and his fiance’ Laura Mullikin. And I look forward to those warm days when I am able to spend some quality time riding my motorcycle.
As Christians, we have much to look forward to as well. If you’re like me, I find myself anticipating our Sunday morning worship services. I have found over the years that I am uplifted and encouraged when I join in fellowship and praise. Matter of fact, I will be the first to admit that I am blessed as much or more than the congregation during our worship services.
Likewise, I look forward to our Bible study group. As a Christian, I realize I still have much to learn about God’s will for my life, and the Bible study group provides learning and encouragement for me. Every participant is a teacher, and there is joy in helping one another discover the truths in God’s Word.
As Christians, we can also look forward to Christ’s return. The Bible contains His message of love and hope for every believer. Having just celebrated Easter, the resurrection of Jesus confirms His victory over death and the grave, and assures each believer that eternity need not be feared.
Spring is here. Warm weather, flowers and gentle rains. God also is here. The presence of Jesus Christ in our lives provides hope for the future. The gift of the Holy Spirit offers us strength and guidance. The gift of God is eternal life.
In His Service,
Pastor Gary Ginter
