As you read this letter, you don’t need to look out your window to realize that the weather has changed once again. There is a nip in the air and the entire landscape has changed once again. The leaves have changed or in some cases are gone already, the corn and soybeans have been harvested and the month of October is behind us. Once again the holiday season is upon us as the stores put away the Halloween leftovers and gear up for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
November begins a very busy time for the Christian community. We begin this month by remembering those who have guided our steps thus far with a special All Saints Day service on November 3. It is a blessing to remember and acknowledge those who have kept the faith and who have sacrificed so much in serving this church and in our community.
We need to pay special attention this year to Election Day on Tuesday November 5th. There are many local and state issues that demand our attention. This year has proven to be a most unusual one and we need to seek God’s direction as we march off to the polls. Make your vote count this year, and pray to God for guidance, and for His blessings upon this great nation.
On November 11th we honor our service men and women by commemorating Veterans Day. A very wise man once said that “freedom is never free”, and we need to lift up those who put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms we enjoy.
Finally, this year we celebrate Thanksgiving Day on November 28th. When was the last time you stopped to count your blessings? We have so much to be thankful for; family, friends, fellowship, food and shelter, and of course our church. God has richly blessed the congregation of Kingsley this past year and it is only fitting that we put our busy lives on pause for a few moments to remember His bountiful mercy and unconditional love. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and may God continue to bless your lives.
In His Service,
Pastor Gary Ginter
